Celina Close

Local residents were fed up with the tired, broken play area in Celina Close and contacted the Town Council for some help.

Together, the Water Eaton Residents’ Association (WERA) and Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council embarked on a lengthy consultation process to see what could be done at the play area.  The Town Council held a very well attended public meeting which highlighted the need to refurbish the area and to deal with the anti social behaviour at the site.  Following further extensive consultation and remodeling of potential designs, a design was agreed and adapted which everyone was happy with.

After a long wait and a small delay in the construction due to the terrible weather at the beginning of the year, the play area has finally been finished. Funding was provided by Bletchley & Fenny Stratford Town Council, Milton Keynes Council and WREN. Ultimately the play area has been completely re-designed by Monster Play Ltd, giving it a new fresh look.

The play area is designed with a fenced area containing play equipment for 12yrs and under and an open area with space for older youths to play football and basketball.

WERA helped to organize a family friendly open day for the play area and the entertainment included a clown, Punch & Judy show and the MK Dons. A great time was had by all, both young and not so young.

The Mayor of Milton Keynes performed the formal ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the play area.

This has been a great project to work on and the Town Council is so pleased to have supported the needs and wants of the local residents, working in association with the Water Eaton Residents’ Association.
